Lesta SAMPLE MAKER

Lesta SAMPLE MAKER is a paint sample making system: a complete system for painting samples, ideal for producing paint test pieces and sample objects or for running tests with specific painting parameters. Once optimized, these parameters can also be applied to large-scale production.

This robotic system for painting samples and product tests can receive specific painting parameters from the company’s production lines and use them to produce test pieces; in addition, specific parameters can be set on this system and then exported and used on the production lines.

How the paint sample making system works: producing paint test pieces

The workflow of Lesta SAMPLE MAKER can work in two directions: on one hand, the system receives the painting parameters already in use on a production line and applies them to producing a sample, so as to have a painted sample representative of what will be produced on the line; on the other hand, the parameters can be fine-tuned directly on Lesta SAMPLE MAKER during the test phase, painting several samples with different settings until the desired aesthetic result is achieved, and then exporting those parameters for use on the company’s production lines.

This exchange of parameters between the paint sample making system and the production lines reduces the time needed to set up a new color or a new finish, because the test is carried out on a dedicated robotic cell instead of taking up a production line already in operation.

Having a dedicated robotic cell for testing also means being able to compare multiple samples made with slightly different parameters, for example by varying the gun distance, flow rate or application speed, to identify the combination that guarantees the aesthetic result closest to what the customer requires before starting large-scale production.

Equipment and technical features

The system is equipped with an internal cleaning station, which allows several tests to be run in sequence with different colors or products without having to manually clean the gun between one sample and the next, reducing dead time between one test and the following one.

Robotic cell footprint: standard height 2600 mm, standard width 2800 mm, standard depth 2000 mm. These dimensions can be customized based on the space available in the department and the number and format of the samples to be produced, so as to adapt the robotic cell even to laboratories with limited space.

This system is compatible with ATEX environments, a feature useful for those producing samples with paint products that require areas classified as at risk of explosive atmosphere, for example in the presence of flammable solvents.

Integration of Lesta SAMPLE MAKER into painting systems

Within a complete industrial painting system by Lesta, the parameters fine-tuned on Lesta SAMPLE MAKER can be managed as recipes by Lesta RECIPE MANAGER once transferred to the production line, while the internal cleaning station works on the same principle as the Lesta CLEANING STATION installed on production lines.
