Lesta ROTATION UNIT

Lesta ROTATION UNIT are rotation units for painting systems available in 3 types:

Lesta ROTATION UNIT RA is an overhead rotation unit, mounted at the robot’s work area on the overhead conveyor. When the piece arrives, it starts rotating on its own vertical axis so as to allow the robot to paint all its sides. On a step conveyor it can work with 2 different steps.

Lesta ROTATION UNIT RT is a floor-mounted rotation unit, consisting of a device that allows pieces to be hooked and rotated perpendicular to the floor for painting. It can be independent, integrated into carousel arms, or integrated into a conveyor. On a step conveyor it can work with 2 different steps.

Lesta ROTATION UNIT RHT is a floor-mounted rotation unit, consisting of a device that allows pieces to be hooked and rotated parallel to the floor for painting. It can be independent, integrated into carousel arms, or integrated into a conveyor, following the same installation methods provided for the RT model.

How to choose between Lesta rotation units for painting systems

The choice between the three types of Lesta ROTATION UNIT mainly depends on the type of conveyor already present in the plant and the rotation axis required by the piece being painted. On overhead conveyors, the Lesta ROTATION UNIT RA rotates the piece on its own vertical axis as it passes through the robot’s work area, exposing all sides of the piece without having to multiply the number of robots along the line. On floor lines, the choice is between rotation perpendicular to the floor, with the Lesta ROTATION UNIT RT, and rotation parallel to the floor, with the Lesta ROTATION UNIT RHT, depending on the geometry of the piece and the orientation with which it must be presented to the robot.

All three rotation units for painting systems can be installed as an independent device, integrated into carousel arms, or integrated directly into a conveyor, and on step conveyors the Lesta ROTATION UNIT RA and RT can work with 2 different steps, adapting to systems with different speeds and production rates.

Rotating the piece during painting, instead of relying on multiple robots positioned around the line, makes it possible to reduce the number of painting stations needed to cover all sides of a complex piece, simplifying the plant layout and reducing the space occupied by the painting line in the factory.

Integration of rotation units into painting systems

Within a complete industrial painting system by Lesta, the rotation units work in coordination with the line’s other automation modules: Lesta PRODUCTION MANAGER tracks the progress of pieces along the line even when they are moved by a Lesta ROTATION UNIT, while the painting paths created in Lesta PAINT STUDIO can take the piece’s rotation into account to optimize coverage of every surface by the robot.

All Lesta ROTATION UNIT painting rotation units are accessories that can also be integrated into systems without Lesta robots. This accessory can be integrated into liquid and powder industrial painting and finishing systems, both on newly built lines and as an upgrade to already existing systems.
